Description
To The Inland Sea: Adelaide, SA to Birdsville, Qld
Inspired by Charles Sturt’s 1844-1846 Central Expedition, To The Inland Sea is a self-drive touring adventure from Adelaide in South Australia to Birdsville in Queensland.
This journey travels more than 2000 kilometres tracing Sturt’s route along roads and tracks that don’t require special permits or permission from private landowners. And it’s not just about the history. It’s about discovering beautiful towns, relaxing back by the mighty Murray River, exploring inland lakes that are magnets for wildlife and experiencing what the Australian outback is all about.
Highlights include Morgan, just one of the friendly river towns, and Wentworth where the Murray meets the Darling River. The route also visits the mining town of Broken Hill, the Capital of Corner Country at Tibooburra, and the remote settlement of Innamincka, to finish on the edge of the Simpson Desert at Birdsville. Most of this journey can be toured with a conventional vehicle; some sections require high clearance and a four-wheel-drive. The trip can be tackled in part or as a whole.
To The Inland Sea features 111 pages of inspiration and information, as well as fascinating video tidbits. Illustrated with more than 200 photographs, this multi-touch ebook will put you in the picture.
This is the first ebook in a series for Modern Day Explorers, designed to provide inspiration for anyone with the spirit of adventure to get out and explore.
